The Assistant Procurement Manager supports cluster-wide purchasing activities for Shangri-La properties in Malaysia. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in procurement, supply chain, business, hospitality, or a related field, along with several years of purchasing experience, preferably in hotels or hospitality. Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, organisational, and vendor-management skills are expected. Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group with hotels, resorts, residences, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The brand is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards, distinctive resorts, and premium city hotels. Its properties commonly include accommodation, restaurants and bars, meetings and events, wellness facilities, and leisure activities. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest experience, colleague development, responsible business practices, and operational consistency. In Malaysia, the group has operated well-known properties in locations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Sabah. A cluster procurement position supports several hotels or business units, giving the successful candidate exposure to strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, cost control, and cross-property collaboration within an established international hospitality environment.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, procurement, finance, engineering, tourism, and service opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and other resort destinations. Penang and Langkawi provide island living, while Kuala Lumpur offers the broadest professional market and better public transport. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle costs vary considerably: island locations can be relaxed and scenic but may have fewer services and higher imported-goods prices. Work visas are normally arranged by the employer, with an Employment Pass requiring an approved position, suitable qualifications, and government approval. Foreign employees should not begin work before receiving the proper pass. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, banking, transport, insurance, and climate preparation, as Malaysia is hot and humid year-round with monsoon patterns that differ by coast. A valid passport and verified employment contract are essential.
