Job Description

The Service Manager – F&B is expected to oversee daily food and beverage operations, maintain high service standards, support guest satisfaction, and lead, coach, and schedule the service team. Candidates typically need a diploma or degree in hospitality, several years of restaurant or hotel F&B experience, and strong knowledge of service procedures, hygiene, cost control, and workplace safety. Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and guest-relations skills are essential. Experience in an international luxury hotel is advantageous. Company Info

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The brand is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, personalised guest service, and premium accommodation, dining, wellness, and meeting experiences. Its Malaysian properties include established city hotels and resort destinations, serving business travellers, leisure guests, families, and events. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment with structured operating standards, training opportunities, and opportunities for internal career development. Benefits and employment conditions vary by property and position, but hospitality roles may include meals, uniforms, service charge, accommodation or allowances, medical coverage, and staff travel privileges. The company typically looks for team members who are guest-focused, professional, culturally aware, and committed to consistent luxury-service delivery.

Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island, with attractive island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. Hospitality jobs are available in luxury resorts, city hotels, restaurants, events, wellness, and tourism operations. Langkawi and Penang offer resort and leisure opportunities, while Kuala Lumpur and major mainland cities provide broader career options and better transport links. The culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with diverse food, festivals, and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is more expensive than smaller resort areas, while island living may involve limited transport and seasonal employment. Foreign nationals normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before working; requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and current Malaysian regulations. Relocating candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, accommodation, insurance, transport, taxes, and contract benefits directly with the employer.
