Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services. Hotel and marketing roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and the central business district. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle highlights include excellent public transport, diverse hawker food, shopping, cultural districts, parks and easy access to Southeast Asia. Living costs, especially rent, are high, although salaries and public services are comparatively strong. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government approval. Relocating applicants should budget for housing deposits, insurance, transport and schooling if applicable. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. A valid employment offer and suitable pass are required before starting work.
