Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent transport links and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, aviation, education and technology provide broad employment opportunities. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and business. Life is energetic and convenient, though housing can be expensive and living spaces are often small. Eligible overseas professionals generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with qualifications, relevant experience and a confirmed job offer considered. Employers usually guide successful candidates through documentation and relocation. New arrivals should budget for accommodation deposits, transport, healthcare and daily expenses.
