Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and northern Borneo, with popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, Perhentian and parts of Sabah. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, beach resorts, restaurants, spas, diving operations, events and tourism management, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Johor. The culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in tourism workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities; food is varied, affordable and widely available. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company normally manages the application and approval process. Confirm current immigration rules, medical requirements, tax obligations, accommodation and dependent arrangements before relocating. Transport and healthcare are strongest in major cities, while island living may involve seasonal work and fewer amenities.
