The group is recognised for Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised guest service and its distinctive Shangri-La brand, alongside brands such as Kerry Hotels, JEN and Traders. Its properties commonly provide accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities, meetings and events, and leisure experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La has a presence in major destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo, with popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, Perhentian, Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi’s surrounding islands. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, healthcare, technology and shared-services sectors offer employment opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business and hotels. Lifestyle ranges from modern city living to relaxed coastal and island communities; costs are generally moderate, though resort locations can be seasonal and less convenient. Foreign workers usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and eligibility depending on salary, qualifications and role. Relocating employees should arrange accommodation, medical cover, banking, transport and document authentication before arrival. Local labour and immigration rules should be checked with the employer and Malaysian authorities.
