Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail, finance and technology. Hospitality roles are commonly available in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants and event venues, although competition can be strong. The culture is multicultural, English is widely used and punctuality, professionalism and respect are valued. Life is convenient, safe and modern, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and abundant urban attractions. Accommodation and daily expenses, especially rent, can be high, so employees should review salary, service charge and housing costs carefully. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and sector rules. Candidates should secure a written offer and approved pass before relocating; the employer usually manages the application process.
