Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with strong hospitality opportunities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering companies and entertainment venues regularly recruit chefs, service staff, housekeeping teams and supervisors. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respect for religion and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Lifestyle can be modern and energetic, with excellent shopping, beaches, dining and outdoor activities, although summers are extremely hot. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation, meals and transport. Candidates should confirm salary, benefits, probation, working hours and contract terms before relocating. Costs and living conditions vary considerably between emirates.
