Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across banking, technology, tourism, manufacturing, logistics, shared services, and digital businesses. Jakarta, on Java, is the main financial and corporate center and generally offers the widest range of professional roles, though traffic and living costs can be high. Bali is popular for tourism, hospitality, creative work, and international lifestyles, while Batam and parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan have opportunities in industry, energy, plantations, and logistics. Indonesian culture values community, politeness, family, and religious diversity; local customs differ considerably between islands. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to quieter coastal or rural settings, with affordable food and varied accommodation. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship, an appropriate work permit, and a limited-stay visa; rules can change, so official immigration guidance is essential. Relocating employees should budget for housing, health insurance, transport, and document legalization.
