Destination Guide

Malaysia offers career opportunities in banking, financial services, technology, shared services, manufacturing, tourism and professional services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. Its culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in Singapore, while the country provides diverse food, modern malls, good healthcare and easy access to beaches, rainforests and islands such as Langkawi, Tioman and Perhentian. Kuala Lumpur is the main financial centre and offers extensive public transport, though traffic can be heavy. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and role requirements. Relocating employees should budget for housing deposits, insurance, transport and school fees if applicable. Malaysia is warm and humid year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast.
