Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied career opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, manufacturing, tourism, and professional services. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also attract international employers. The country’s culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with diverse food, festivals, and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many major Asian cities, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Malaysia provides beaches, rainforests, highlands, and islands such as Langkawi, Penang, and Redang, making weekend travel accessible. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; the company typically handles the application, subject to immigration approval and salary or qualification requirements. Relocating is usually straightforward in major cities, where English is widely used, public transport is improving, and private healthcare and international schools are available.
