Destination Guide

The Philippines offers employment opportunities in banking, business-process outsourcing, technology, healthcare, education, tourism, retail, and logistics, especially in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented, and influenced by Spanish, American, and Southeast Asian traditions; English is widely used in business. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal and provincial communities, with generally affordable food, transport, and domestic travel, though housing and traffic in Manila can be challenging. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or permit, commonly a 9(g) work visa, and should confirm requirements with the Bureau of Immigration and their employer. Relocating workers should budget for accommodation, healthcare, transportation, and initial documentation. The country has thousands of islands, offering beaches, mountains, diving, and rich regional cuisine during holidays.
