Hotels, resorts, restaurants, airlines and travel companies regularly recruit guest service, front office, food and beverage, housekeeping and supervisory staff. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in hotels and major cities. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, with generally affordable food and transport, although rents vary. Malaysia is not one island but includes destinations such as Langkawi, Penang and parts of Borneo. Foreign workers normally need an employment pass or appropriate work permit sponsored by the employer; working on a tourist entry is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, medical checks, contract terms and visa sponsorship before relocating. Tropical weather, strong food culture and welcoming communities are major attractions.
