Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, IT, tourism, logistics, finance, and business services, with Colombo and nearby industrial zones being the main employment centers. The country has a warm tropical climate, diverse food, strong family and community traditions, and a culture influenced by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial heritage. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international cities, although Colombo housing and imported goods can be expensive. Public transport is affordable, while private travel is more convenient. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an approved employment visa or residence authorization; an entry visa or tourist ETA does not permit work. Relocating candidates should confirm qualifications, contract terms, medical requirements, taxation, accommodation, and immigration procedures with MAS and Sri Lankan authorities before arrival.
