Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, information technology, business services, tourism, finance, logistics, engineering, healthcare, and education. Colombo and nearby areas have the strongest concentration of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle, and other cities provide growing opportunities. The culture is friendly and diverse, influenced by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial traditions. English is widely used in business, although Sinhala and Tamil are the official languages. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many international destinations, with affordable food and transport, beautiful beaches, mountains, wildlife, and a relaxed social atmosphere. Foreign nationals normally require an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; tourists cannot legally work. Interns should confirm sponsorship, salary, accommodation, insurance, and tax requirements before relocating. Colombo offers the widest range of housing and commuting options.
