Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, with Jakarta located on Java, the country’s busiest island and main commercial center. Hospitality opportunities are strongest in Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and major resort destinations, particularly in hotels, restaurants, events, and tourism. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, religious diversity, and respect for hierarchy. Jakarta offers extensive dining, shopping, transport, and professional opportunities, but also heavy traffic, a fast pace, and higher living costs than many regional cities. Bali and other islands provide a more relaxed lifestyle but may have seasonal employment and housing pressures. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work authorization, including the appropriate visa and KITAS or residence permit; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, medical checks, contract terms, accommodation, tax, and relocation costs before traveling.
