Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality, finance, tourism, food and beverage, technology, and teaching opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, and other islands. Surabaya, on Java, is a major business city with lower living costs than Jakarta or Bali and strong transport, shopping, and healthcare services. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, religious awareness, and respectful workplace relationships; English is useful in international hotels, while Indonesian improves daily life and career prospects. Lifestyle choices range from busy urban living to beach, mountain, and island communities, with generally affordable food and accommodation outside premium tourist areas. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work authorization and appropriate Indonesian work and residence permits; tourist visas do not authorize employment. Employers usually guide the process, and requirements can change, so candidates should confirm details with the Indonesian embassy and immigration authorities before relocating.
