Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai offering the largest number of hospitality jobs. Opportunities are available in hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering, aviation and tourism, particularly for experienced chefs and service professionals. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Arab hospitality and a highly international workforce; respectful dress and behavior are important. Abu Dhabi offers a calmer lifestyle than Dubai, with beaches, shopping, museums and desert activities. Employers commonly arrange an employment visa, medical testing, Emirates ID and sometimes accommodation, meals and transport. Candidates should confirm the full benefits package before relocating. Living costs can be high, especially for private housing, although staff accommodation may reduce expenses. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant. English is widely used in hotels, with Arabic helpful but usually not essential.
