Destination Guide

Thailand offers varied island lifestyles and strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving, wellness, events, sales and digital marketing. Phuket and Koh Samui have the broadest international hospitality markets, while Krabi, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Koh Chang provide opportunities in resorts, tours and marine activities. Bangkok remains the main base for corporate, luxury-hotel and multi-property roles. Thai culture values politeness, respect, flexibility and relationship building; learning basic Thai is useful. Island life is generally relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, markets, water sports and a close-knit expatriate community, although transport, healthcare and housing can be more limited than in Bangkok. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting work. Relocation planning should include certified qualifications, accommodation, insurance, visa costs and transportation. Salaries may be lower outside Bangkok, but some resorts provide staff housing, meals, service charge or other benefits.
