Destination Guide

The Maldives offers strong employment opportunities in resorts, especially in culinary, housekeeping, front office, engineering, marine activities, wellness, and guest services. Resort life is usually based on a private island, with accommodation, meals, transportation, and sometimes medical coverage provided by the employer. Local culture is influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respect for religious customs are important when visiting inhabited islands. Life is relaxed but can feel remote, and employees generally work long shifts with scheduled days off and limited access to city amenities. Foreign workers need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work permit; employers normally arrange the process after arrival and provide a valid employment contract. Relocation requires medical checks, passport documents, and patience with travel logistics. Malé offers more shopping and services, while resort islands provide a quieter, nature-focused lifestyle.
