Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, technology, healthcare, education and service-sector opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Sabah, on Malaysian Borneo, combines beaches, islands, rainforest and Mount Kinabalu, with a relaxed lifestyle and strong tourism culture. Local life is multicultural, shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous communities, with varied food, festivals and languages. Living costs are generally moderate, though central or resort areas can be more expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employment pass or appropriate work permit sponsored by the employer; working on a tourist entry is not permitted. Employers usually assist with documentation, but requirements depend on nationality and role. New arrivals should confirm accommodation, transport, healthcare, tax, insurance and contract details before relocating. Kota Kinabalu offers modern amenities, outdoor activities and access to nearby islands.
