Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong hospitality, tourism, property, technology, finance and shared-services opportunities, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Johor and Kota Kinabalu. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with diverse food, festivals and languages. Kuala Lumpur provides modern conveniences, shopping, international schools and generally moderate living costs, while island destinations offer a slower lifestyle and tourism-focused work. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; the hiring company applies through the relevant Malaysian authorities, and approval depends on role, qualifications and salary. Candidates should confirm current rules before relocating. Housing ranges from serviced apartments to condominiums, and public transport is strongest in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Malaysia’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with regional monsoon seasons. A relocation budget should include deposits, insurance, transport and visa-related expenses.
