Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and shared services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Johor. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with excellent food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Urban life is convenient and relatively affordable, while beaches, rainforests and islands provide easy weekend escapes. English is widely used in business and hospitality, although learning basic Malay is helpful. Foreign nationals normally need an employment offer and an employer-sponsored Employment Pass before starting work; approval depends on the role, salary, qualifications and current immigration rules. Employers may assist with documentation, accommodation advice and relocation. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, service charge, insurance, working hours and taxation directly with the hotel before accepting an offer.
