Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle center. Hospitality, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, education, technology, and energy offer significant job opportunities, particularly for people with international experience. The culture combines modern city living with strong Islamic traditions; modest dress, respectful behavior, and consideration during Ramadan are important. Doha offers modern malls, restaurants, museums, beaches, desert excursions, and an increasingly active expatriate community. Employers commonly arrange work visas, medical checks, residence permits, and sometimes accommodation, meals, transport, flights, or health insurance. Confirm the package before accepting an offer. Employees normally need employer sponsorship and should not work on a tourist visa. Living costs vary, with housing being the largest expense. Summers are extremely hot, while winter is more comfortable for outdoor activities.
