Destination Guide

Fiji offers employment opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, construction, retail, education, healthcare, and professional services. Tourism is the largest source of jobs in many island communities, especially around Nadi, Denarau, Suva, and the Coral Coast. Fijian culture places strong importance on family, community, respect, hospitality, and traditions such as kava ceremonies and village protocols. Lifestyle is generally relaxed, with warm weather, beaches, boating, diving, hiking, and outdoor activities available throughout the year. Nadi and Denarau are popular with expatriates, while Suva is more urban and administrative. Foreign nationals normally require an approved work permit before starting employment; employers commonly support the application, but requirements can change. Relocating employees should confirm visa conditions, accommodation, healthcare, tax, banking, and transport arrangements before arrival. Living costs can be moderate to high in tourist areas, particularly for imported goods and housing.
