Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and other islands, particularly in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, manufacturing, education, and international business. Java, including Jakarta, Bekasi, Bandung, and Surabaya, has the broadest corporate job market; Bali is especially strong in hotels, restaurants, wellness, and tourism. Life can be affordable outside central Jakarta, although traffic, humidity, and differences in infrastructure are important considerations. Indonesian culture values community, respect, hospitality, and religious diversity; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate stay visa before starting work. Employers commonly handle much of the immigration process, but requirements and regulations can change. Research health insurance, housing, taxation, schooling if relevant, and airport or commuting options before relocating. Regional travel is attractive, with frequent domestic flights connecting the major islands.
