Destination Guide

Fiji is an island nation in the South Pacific, with most resort and employment opportunities concentrated on Viti Levu, especially Nadi, Denarau, Lautoka and Suva, and on tourist islands such as Vanua Levu and the Mamanuca and Yasawa groups. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, aviation, construction, healthcare and education are major employment areas. Fijian culture values welcoming guests, community, family and respect, with iTaukei traditions, Indo-Fijian heritage, English, Fijian and Fiji Hindi all contributing to everyday life. The lifestyle is warm, outdoor-oriented and generally relaxed, although costs for imported goods can be high. Overseas applicants normally need an employer-supported work permit before starting employment; requirements vary by nationality and role. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, healthcare, taxes, flights and permit sponsorship with the employer before relocating.
