Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle centre. Hospitality, aviation, tourism, events, retail, construction, healthcare, and technology offer regular job opportunities, especially for candidates with international experience. The culture is welcoming but conservative: modest dress is recommended, Islamic customs should be respected, and alcohol is restricted to licensed venues. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, restaurants, desert excursions, and a generally safe lifestyle. Summers are extremely hot, while winter is pleasant and popular for outdoor activities. Most expatriates enter on an employer-sponsored work visa; the company normally arranges residence permits, medical checks, and related documentation. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, gratuity, and contract terms. Qatar has no personal income tax on most employment earnings, but living costs can be high without employer-provided housing.
