Destination Guide

Malaysia is not a single island destination, but it offers excellent island living alongside major urban job centres such as Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, marketing, technology, healthcare, and education provide common employment opportunities. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are moderate by regional standards, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort islands can be more expensive. Penang and Langkawi offer beaches, food, and a slower pace, while Putrajaya provides a quieter, modern environment near Kuala Lumpur. Foreign nationals generally need an employment offer and an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and role. Arrange the visa before starting work, confirm medical or insurance requirements, and budget for deposits, transport, and temporary accommodation during relocation.
