Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, retail and tourism. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and famous hawker food. Life is generally safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and many parks, museums and shopping areas. Rent can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so shared housing or accommodation farther from Orchard Road may be practical. Foreign employees normally need a valid work pass arranged by an employer, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the employer’s sponsorship, contract terms, housing costs, medical coverage and eligibility requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.
