Destination Guide

Penang Island offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, shared services, accounting, technology, healthcare, manufacturing support, and retail. George Town combines historic streets, temples, mosques, modern shopping centres, cafés, and some of Malaysia’s best-known food. Lifestyle is generally relaxed, with beaches and nature areas available around the island, although traffic can be busy and housing costs vary by neighbourhood. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and job level. Employers usually guide the application and provide supporting documents. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance, deposits, and immigration fees, and confirm whether accommodation or relocation assistance is included in the offer.
