Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, technology, retail, finance and education, with Kuala Lumpur and Penang among the main employment centres. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, reflected in its languages, festivals and food. Life in Kuala Lumpur is relatively affordable compared with many international cities, with modern transport, shopping, healthcare and diverse dining. Beaches and island destinations such as Langkawi, Tioman and the Perhentian Islands are popular weekend or holiday escapes, while Sabah and Sarawak offer rainforest and marine experiences. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company generally handles the application and approval process before work begins. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, accommodation, insurance and tax arrangements. Relocating employees should budget for deposits, transport and initial living costs, and research local customs, weather and practical access to work.
