Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, travel agencies, aviation, restaurants, technology, education and international services, especially in Colombo, Galle, Kandy and major coastal destinations. The culture combines South Asian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian traditions, with strong hospitality, family connections and respect for elders. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many global cities, although Colombo rents and imported goods can be expensive. The island has tropical beaches, highlands, wildlife parks and historic cities, with warm weather year-round and monsoon seasons that vary by region. Foreign workers normally need an employment visa or residence approval sponsored and supported by the employer; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, qualifications, accommodation, healthcare and tax arrangements before relocating.
