Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, although Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is a major waterfront destination. Hospitality is a significant employer, with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events, aviation, retail, and tourism. Dubai offers a modern, international lifestyle, excellent infrastructure, beaches, shopping, nightlife, desert activities, and a diverse expatriate community. Local culture values courtesy, family, modesty in public places, and respect for Islamic customs; alcohol is restricted to licensed venues, and laws should be followed carefully. Most overseas employees require employer sponsorship and a UAE employment residence visa. The employer normally arranges work authorization, medical testing, Emirates ID processing, and often accommodation or a housing allowance. Candidates should confirm the contract, salary, service charge, benefits, probation terms, and relocation support before accepting. Living costs can be high, particularly for private housing, while public transport and taxis make Dubai relatively easy to navigate.
