Destination Guide

Thailand offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, wellness, retail, education, technology, and marine activities. Bangkok is the main business hub, while Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, and Pattaya provide strong seasonal hospitality employment. Thai culture values respect, calm communication, hierarchy, family, and hospitality; learning basic Thai is useful. Island living can offer beaches, outdoor activities, and a relaxed lifestyle, though housing, transport, healthcare access, and salaries vary considerably by location. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a work permit before legally working; requirements can include a job offer, qualifications, company documents, and health checks. Employers often assist with paperwork, but applicants should confirm current rules with the Thai embassy and immigration authorities. Relocation planning should include accommodation, insurance, tax registration, banking, and emergency funds. Bangkok has the broadest professional opportunities, while island roles may provide staff housing or meals but can be more seasonal.
