Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, finance, and technology. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, courtesy, and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Dubai provides a modern lifestyle, excellent transport, beaches, shopping, entertainment, and a large expatriate community, although housing and summer temperatures can be challenging. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas. The employer commonly arranges the work permit, medical testing, Emirates ID, and residency process after arrival. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, leave, flights, probation terms, and visa costs in writing. Dependants may require separate sponsorship, subject to current UAE regulations and salary requirements.
