Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied career and lifestyle options. Java, especially Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta, has the broadest opportunities in technology, finance, retail, logistics, and corporate services. Bali offers tourism, hospitality, creative, and remote-work communities, while Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and other islands provide growing opportunities in resources, agriculture, logistics, tourism, and regional commerce. Indonesian culture values politeness, community, religious diversity, and respectful communication. Living costs vary greatly: Jakarta and Bali are generally more expensive than many secondary cities. Public transport is improving in major urban areas, although motorcycles remain common. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work or internship visa and employer sponsorship; tourist status does not permit employment. Before relocating, confirm the contract, visa responsibilities, health insurance, housing, local registration, and tax obligations. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia makes daily life and workplace integration easier.
