Job Description

Rakuten is seeking a Principal AI Risk Management Specialist to help establish and operate governance for artificial intelligence across the group. The role is expected to identify and assess AI-related risks, develop policies and controls, support regulatory and privacy compliance, and advise business and technology teams on responsible AI use. Candidates should have substantial experience in AI governance, information security, privacy, enterprise risk, compliance, or related fields, ideally within a large international organization. Knowledge of frameworks and regulations such as the EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO standards, and Japanese privacy requirements would be valuable. Strong communication, stakeholder-management, analytical, and documentation skills are expected. Business-level English is important; Japanese ability and experience in Japan are advantageous.
