Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in technology, telecommunications, software, finance, consulting, engineering, tourism, healthcare, and education, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Professional roles usually require relevant experience, strong technical or business skills, and Japanese ability, although international companies may hire English-speaking specialists. Japanese culture values punctuality, politeness, teamwork, and careful attention to detail. Lifestyle ranges from energetic city living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with excellent public transport, safety, healthcare, and food. Tokyo is convenient but expensive; regional cities generally offer lower housing costs. Eligible foreign professionals typically need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status, and must meet education or experience requirements. Applicants should secure a job offer before relocating, arrange housing and residence registration, and budget for deposits, transport, health insurance, and initial living expenses.
