Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in software engineering, cloud computing, cybersecurity, finance, data, consulting, manufacturing, hospitality, and education. Tokyo and Osaka have the widest range of international roles, while cities such as Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Sapporo can offer lower living costs and growing technology markets. Japanese workplace culture generally values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, hierarchy, and careful communication, although global companies may be more flexible. Daily life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable healthcare, and varied housing options. Rent and commuting costs are highest in central Tokyo. Most foreign professionals need an appropriate work visa, usually sponsored by their employer; highly skilled workers may qualify for preferential treatment. Before relocating, arrange a residence card, address registration, health insurance, pension enrollment, a bank account, and suitable housing. Learning practical Japanese greatly improves workplace and community integration.
