The role supports Rakuten’s Japan Privacy Group within the Information Security & Privacy Governance Department. Responsibilities include advising business teams on Japan’s APPI and international privacy requirements, conducting privacy impact assessments, reviewing data-use practices and contracts, maintaining policies and controls, supporting audits and incident response, and promoting privacy awareness. Candidates are expected to have practical privacy, legal, compliance, information-security, or governance experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work with stakeholders across a large organization. Japanese proficiency is likely important for domestic regulations and business communication, while English skills are valuable in Rakuten’s global environment.
