Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in technology, software engineering, AI, fintech, consulting, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and hospitality. Tokyo has the largest concentration of international companies and technology jobs, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo also provide growing opportunities. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect, and attention to detail, although international firms may have more flexible cultures. Daily life is generally safe, convenient, and supported by excellent public transportation, but housing and commuting in Tokyo can be expensive. Skilled professionals commonly use an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa; highly qualified applicants may qualify for a Highly Skilled Professional visa. Employers usually sponsor applications, and family visas may be available for eligible dependents. Relocating requires arranging housing, residence registration, health insurance, banking, and often tax procedures. Learning practical Japanese greatly improves work and social integration.
