Destination Guide

Japan is an island nation with strong opportunities in technology, finance, engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, tourism, and education. Tokyo and nearby areas offer the largest number of international jobs, while Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and regional cities may provide lower living costs and growing technology markets. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, teamwork, respect, careful communication, and attention to detail; international companies may use English alongside Japanese. Daily life is convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, and diverse food and cultural experiences, although housing and commuting in Tokyo can be expensive. Skilled professionals usually need an appropriate work visa, such as Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services, supported by an employer. Applicants should prepare academic and employment documents, arrange housing, health insurance, pension, and tax registration, and check whether their employer provides relocation assistance. Japan’s main islands are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, with Okinawa and many smaller islands offering distinct lifestyles.
