Destination Guide

Bahrain is a compact Gulf island country with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, finance, technology, construction and healthcare. Hospitality jobs are concentrated in Manama, Juffair, Seef, Amwaj Islands and resort areas such as Zallaq. The culture blends Arab traditions with a relatively relaxed, cosmopolitan lifestyle; modest dress and respect for Islamic customs are expected, especially during Ramadan. Life includes beaches, cafés, shopping malls, water sports, historical sites and an active expatriate community. Summers are extremely hot and humid, while winters are generally pleasant. For overseas hires, the employer normally sponsors a work permit and residence visa, arranges medical checks and may provide accommodation, transport, meals, insurance or annual-flight benefits, depending on the contract. Do not begin work on a visit visa. Confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, working hours, leave, probation and repatriation terms before relocating.
