Destination Guide

Spain’s islands offer varied hospitality opportunities, especially in hotels, resorts, restaurants, reception, housekeeping, entertainment and guest services. The Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca, have a strong seasonal tourism economy, while the Canary Islands provide more year-round employment. Island culture combines relaxed social life, regional food, festivals, beaches and outdoor activities, although peak season can be busy and accommodation expensive. Public transport is generally good in larger towns, but a car may be useful in resort areas. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can work without a visa, subject to registration requirements. Non-EU applicants usually need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment. Candidates should confirm accommodation, working hours, salary, contract duration and relocation costs before accepting a position. Spanish is valuable, and English plus other European languages are highly sought after.
