Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a modern Gulf federation made up of seven emirates, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Hospitality, tourism, catering, retail, aviation, construction, healthcare, and business services provide significant employment opportunities. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for local customs, and awareness of Islamic holidays are important. Abu Dhabi offers a quieter lifestyle, modern housing, beaches, shopping, restaurants, and desert activities, although summer temperatures are extremely high. Employers commonly sponsor work visas, including entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing, and residency arrangements, but applicants should confirm all benefits in writing. Relocation costs, accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, and annual leave vary by contract. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic is the official language. Staff accommodation and transport are common in hospitality positions.
