Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, neighbourhoods and famous hawker food. The lifestyle is safe, clean, efficient and highly connected, although accommodation and everyday expenses can be relatively high. Public transport is excellent, and beaches, parks, shopping districts and cultural attractions are easily accessible. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass. Chefs and hospitality managers may qualify for an Employment Pass or S Pass, depending on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. Employers commonly assist with work-pass applications, but candidates should confirm eligibility before relocating. A job offer, valid passport, medical checks and documented qualifications may be required. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so light clothing and adaptable routines are useful.
