Destination Guide

Maldives resort employment offers opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, marine activities, engineering, finance, human resources, training and management. Most resort jobs are located on private islands, separate from the capital, Malé. The culture is welcoming and multicultural, while local communities follow Islamic traditions; modest dress and respectful behaviour are expected on inhabited islands. Resort life is social but relatively isolated, with staff accommodation, shared facilities, water activities and organised transport often provided. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and entry approval, followed by local health and immigration procedures. Contracts commonly include flights, meals, accommodation and medical coverage, but candidates should confirm all conditions in writing. Relocation involves travelling through Velana International Airport and then taking a speedboat or seaplane to the resort. Internet, supplies and medical services can be limited on remote islands, so preparation is important.
