Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, attractions, food and beverage, aviation, finance, technology and logistics. English is widely used at work, and the multicultural population includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. Life is convenient, safe and well connected by MRT and buses, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Popular leisure areas include Sentosa, Marina Bay, Orchard Road, East Coast and the Southern Ridges. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; the employer usually submits the application. Candidates should confirm eligibility, medical requirements and housing costs before relocating. Singapore offers excellent healthcare and infrastructure, but its hot, humid climate and competitive employment market require adjustment.
