Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country spanning the Malay Peninsula and northern Borneo, with islands and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak. Hospitality, tourism, retail, food service, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology provide major job opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and resort areas. Daily life combines modern cities, affordable local food, shopping, beaches, rainforests, and diverse Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions. English is widely used in hotels and business, although Malay is the national language. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and must meet Malaysian immigration and medical requirements; working before approval is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, meals, insurance, contract terms, and service-charge arrangements. Costs are moderate outside central Kuala Lumpur, while island resorts may have fewer services and higher prices.
